I had an interesting perspective of the race this year, as I was assisting with bicycles on the course. Not many mechanical emergencies, so most of the day was spent cheering racers onward.
I don't really understand the impulse, but I can respect it.
The day was surprisingly nice -- a break from the current high levels of volcanic smog in Kailua-Kona. The lighting allowed some nice photography. Enjoy.
